IWAM Participates in the Mentoring Program of the “Leaders of Russia” Competition

On November 9, MGIMO hosted a meeting between the MGIMO Rector and the winners of the “Leaders of Russia” competition as part of the mentoring program aimed at developing and preparing participants for future challenges and career transitions. The event was attended by MGIMO Professor, Deputy Director of the Agroexport Federal Center Dmitry Shestakov, who represented the Institute of World Agricultural Markets.

“Leaders of Russia” is the largest national management competition, held annually on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin since 2017. Contest participants have the opportunity to undergo a comprehensive assessment of professional competencies, draw up an individual development plan, and get mentoring from the leaders of the largest companies in the industry they are interested in.

This year, two winners of the competition, Azamat Perisaev (track “Public administration”) and Gleb Sibirtsev (track “International”), chose the MGIMO Rector to be their mentor. During the meeting, Anatoly Torkunov dwelled on opportunities for development at MGIMO and participation in university projects. He noted that MGIMO students are deeply interested in communicating with successful managers, and invited young leaders to give a lecture about their expertise in building a career and uncovering managerial potential.

Azamat and Gleb, in turn, shared their impressions of participating in the competition. The participants expressed the belief that the mentoring program would help them achieve their goals and become a significant stage in their professional development. They also discussed feasible cooperation formats with MGIMO and further work with university mentors.

“Both winners are interested in issues related to the development of agri exports. Thus, the MGIMO rector delegated to me, as a representative of the Institute of World Agricultural Markets, the opportunity to mentor these leaders, ” says Dmitry Shestakov, MGIMO Professor, Deputy Director of the “Agroexport”. “We have already exchanged contacts and agreed to discuss in more details ideas in the implementation of which we could help young leaders”.

The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rector for Development Artem Malgin, Director of the School of Business and International Competences Anzhelika Mirzoeva and Director of the MGIMO Endowment Foundation Marina Petrova.

Since 2018, Anatoly Torkunov has been participating in the mentoring project and working with the finalists and winners of the “Leaders of Russia” competition. During this period, 33 winners have been studying on the MBA programs of the MGIMO School of Business and International Competences (Digital Economy and World Agricultural Markets).
